Trot is a music genre that sings of family and love between men and women to traditional Korean tunes, and it is as popular as K-POP. In the survival audition program "Mr. Trot" aired on TV Chosun, the unique contestants infuse new breath into Trot, recording a peak audience rating of 35.7%. It completely changed the image of the Trot as a genre that middle-aged and older people like and sparked a huge Trot boom with its nostalgic, addictive pop music style. "Mr. Trot Japan" discovers the next generation of talented male vocalists who can infuse new breath into oldies loved by all generations. The winner will receive a prize of 10 million yen and a major debut, and there will be a Japan-Korea collaboration with the contestants of "Mr. Trot" produced by TV Chosun.
The main MC for this event will beTerumoto Goto (Football Hour), who has released two cover song albums himself and has been making waves by showing his new appeal as a singer. The judge will be a music producer Satoshi Takebe, who has always been at the forefront of the music industry, having served as the music director for Yumi Matsutoya's concert tour, produced songs for Yo Hitoto, Miki Imai, Yuzu, Ken Hirai, JUJU, and arranged many famous songs such as Hideaki Tokunaga's "Rainy Blue" and Seiko Matsuda's "Ruriiro no Chikyu." He also will produce a song for a debut artist.
The application period will be until Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
